Lifeguard Training

Central Park Aquatic Center offers lifeguard certification through the American Red Cross (ARC); courses are offered on weekends by a certified instructor. Two courses are offered: a first time certification course, lasting 2 weekends (or 4 weekdays) and a re-certification course, lasting 1 weekend.

Note: a minimum number of 4 students is needed to conduct each class. If 4 students are not enrolled, the class will be canceled, program fees will be refunded and the class will be rescheduled. Students will be contacted by email regarding any class cancellations. After enrollment, if a student withdraws from the class, a fee of $20 will be required to cover associated fees. 

Pool Operator Training

Central Park Aquatic Center is proud to be able to offer National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification

A CPO ®  Certificationprovides individuals with the basic knowledge, techniques, and skills of pool and spa operations. This training has helped protect millions of swimmers by reducing hazards at aquatic facilities. The NSPF ®  Certified Pool/Spa Operator ®  (CPO ® ) Certificationprogram, the world's leading verifiable pool and spa training credential, is available as a blended training program. The CPO ®  Certification program is also eligible for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

 This two-day class covers 14-16 hours of information from the  NSPF ® Pool & Spa Operator  Handbook and local codes taught by a certified NSPF ®  Instructor. This dynamic setting offers direct interaction with an instructor and fellow students. Pass the open book exam and earn CPO® certification.

New!!  WSI Instructor Training

 
The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course will teach instructor candidates to teach swim lessons and other water safety programs through instructor lead sessions.


Pre-requisites
1) 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the instructor course.
2) Successfully complete the pre-course skills test:
  Front Crawl 25 yards
  Back Crawl 25 yards
  Breast Stroke 25 Yards
  Elementary Backstroke 25 yards
  Sidestroke 25 yards
  Butterfly 15 yards
  Maintain position on back for one minute in deep water (float or scull)
  Tread water for one minute
  
Certification Requirements:
  Attend and actively participate in all course sessions (no make-up sessions).
  Complete all reading and written assignments.
  Participate in all water activities.
  Successfully complete class activities
